Don’t wait too long to start your own business! I’ve been a hair stylist for more than 20 years in Chicago, Montana, Los Angeles and now in San Antonio. During the 2020 lockdown, I used my downtime to focus on new hair techniques, business strategies + social media tips. Then I decided it was finally time to go into business for myself! I love running my own salon, filled with good vibes and wonderful people. At age 50, I am happy and at peace that I didn’t wait any longer!!!

Don’t wait too long to challenge yourself - mentally, emotionally and, in this case, physically. I spent the last 12 weeks prepping for a Men’s Physique Show, a goal of mine for several years. It’s been an empowering and humbling experience to see what the human body can accomplish with the right conditioning, eating plan and recovery. I never want to take my health for granted, as countless others - even children - fight for their health every day.

Don’t wait too long to accept help! For a long time, I had a plain white truck I used for my juice business. It was even starting to rust. A brand new customer asked me, “What do you think if my friends & I painted your juice truck bright pink to match the Pink Pillbox* and your bright personality?” I didn’t know any of them, but I jumped at the opportunity and said YES! They showed up with tons of pink paint and a Don’t Wait Too Long shirt for me to wear! Now, my beautiful pink truck is a magnet and attracting new customers every day. It also sparks conversations about my fight against cancer. I don’t think it’s an accident that pink is the color of LOVE and HEALING.
